"They don’t want a career, they want an experience."
The Global Human Capital Trends 2014 Survey published by Deloitte Consulting early 2014 contains results worth looking at. In order to identify the top HR trends 2,532 managing directors and HR executives from 94 countries all over the world were interviewed.
The situational analysis shows that companies are replacing staff reduction with investments in their employees. Caution gives way to drive and companies need to realise that a crucial employee target group forces them to re-think their approach:
the Millennials.
The Millennials or also Generation Y are considered the professional elite of the future. They are seen as the successor generation of the baby boomers and generation X. The Millennials have grown up in the environment of internet and mobile communication and therefore have a strong affinity to technology. Asking Millennials how they imagine their daily work they will certainly mention terms such as fun, self-realisation and freedom. Time for private projects and family can/should not be missing either.
According to the Global Human Capital Trends 2014 Survey Millennials are the employees of the 21st century companies should get ready for. As soon as 2025 Millennials will represent 75% of all employees worldwide.
In the coming weeks we will publish more posts in our XING group presenting you further trends and the corresponding strategies for the future, summarised in the main conclusions of the Global Human Capital Trends 2014 Survey of Deloitte Consulting and further studies.
